New member information

Welcome to EBC, whether you are joining us or just interested, the following information may be of help to you.

If you are not a member yet, you might want to read what it entails to join the choir first.

We are an auditioned choir of approximately 60 singers. Our repertoire includes a very wide range of music, including, of course, baroque.

We rehearse on Monday evenings from 18.35 until 21.20 with a short break. Rehearsals take place normally in St Cyprian’s church, Glentworth St, London NW1 6AX.

Regular attendance at rehearsals is essential to maintain high standards of performance. Attendance is monitored to make sure you are as committed to the choir as we are committed to you. Singers access a commitment form on the website to indicate their availability for concerts and rehearsals and this needs to be kept up to date.

We normally perform four main concerts per year: March, June/July, November and Christmas. In addition various other singing opportunities normally arise during the year. We also endeavour to go on tour abroad approximately once every 2 years. From time to time opportunities arise for semi-chorus and solo singing.

There is a membership subscription, which varies, but currently is around £75 per term (3 terms a year), payable in instalments if preferred. There are also reduced rates for eligible members. Most music is purchased at the singer’s expense, but there is occasionally the option to hire.

The choir is managed by a committee.  In addition to committee roles, members support the choir in a variety of functions.  The offer of help is always accepted. There is also a repertoire advisory group.

We hope we come across as a friendly choir. Due to Covid our social activities had been put on hold for a while, but we have an online book club and have resumed country walks. Post-rehearsal pub visits and other activities will follow soon.
